How much does luxury car rental in Romania cost in winter?

Driving in Romania in winter: what you need to know
Romania drives on the right. Winter tyres are mandatory by law whenever roads are covered in snow, ice or slush, and our winter fleet is already fitted with them. Main roads to the ski resorts are ploughed regularly, but mountain passes can close.
Which mountain roads are closed in winter?
The Transfăgărășan high section is usually closed from 1 November to 30 June, and the Transalpina closes in winter. Don’t plan your route over them. Snow chains are compulsory where you see the chains-required sign, even in a 4x4.
What else should I know before driving off?
The emergency number is 112, the same as the rest of the EU. Dipped headlights must be on outside towns, day and night. Leave early in the morning on Fridays and Sundays to avoid the Prahova Valley queues.

Do rental cars in Romania come with winter tyres?
Every car in our winter fleet runs on winter tyres (M+S with the 3PMSF snowflake symbol), at no extra cost. Romanian law requires winter tyres whenever the road is covered in snow, ice or slush, and all four tyres must be winter tyres.
What do foreigners need to rent and drive a car in Romania?
You need a passport or EU ID card, a driving licence held for at least 2 years and a minimum age of 22. EU, EEA and UK licences are accepted.
Can you deliver the car to Bucharest Airport or my ski hotel?
Yes. We hand over the car at Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport (OTP) arrivals, at your hotel or at your chalet in Poiana Brașov, Sinaia, Predeal and other resorts. Delivery cost depends on the destination and is confirmed when you book.
What deposit do you need for a luxury SUV?
The deposit depends on the car and on the insurance package you choose (START, CONFORT or ELITE), and it is shown on each model’s page. It is held on your credit card at pick-up and released once the car is returned in the same condition.
Can I drive long distances in the rental car?
Yes. Most winter cars include 200 km per day, added up over the whole rental, so a 5-day trip includes 1,000 km. That covers Bucharest – Sinaia – Brașov – Bran – Poiana Brașov and back with room to spare.
Can I rent a car with a driver instead?
Yes. If you would rather not drive on snowy mountain roads, a professional chauffeur can take you from the airport to your hotel or chalet and back.
